Integrated Generation of Solid Fuel and Biogas from Biomass (IFBB) technology has been developed at the University of Kassel and tested on laboratory scale up to the year 2008. The first large scale plant using IFBB is running in the city of Baden-Baden since 2014.

IFBB acts as a platform technology to produce a high-quality, homogeneous press-cake with a significantly higher ecologic and economic value (less volume, low moisture content and higher energy density). IFBB technology allows spatial decoupling of long production chains and facilitates conversion of biomass into higher added-value products, which require high-quality and narrowly defined materials.

The IFBB concept has been thoroughly demonstrated and successfully piloted in various European regions.
